Senior Datalink Networking Software Engineer

FreeGate is setting the standard for bullet-proof Internet connectivity for small and mid-sized businesses.  As senior datalink software  engineer, you will be responsible for all of the low-level connectivity software in the FreeGate product.  This includes drivers for T1, ISDN, and DSL network interfaces; ISDN signalling software; and PPP and  Frame Relay datalink protocol software.  You will carry projects from conception through to delivery, working with product marketing and customer service to determine customer needs, then implementing  solutions that meet those requirements. You will continually work to improve the performance and reliability of the datalink software in the FreeGate system.

Skills Required:

  • At least 4 - 6 years datalink networking software design and implementation experience
  • B.S. degree required; advanced degree highly desired
  • Strong focus on performance and reliability a plus
  • Experience developing drivers in BSD Unix kernel
  • Experience or understanding of PPP and Frame Relay protocols
  • A track record of delivering successful software products
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a product development team
  • Understanding of Internet protocols, operations and configuration helpful
  • Take pride in developing the highest quality products that delight users
  • Self-starter; ability to lead software development teams a plus

TCP/IP Software Engineer

 FreeGate is setting the standard in the new market of Internet connectivity and server appliance products. As a TCP/IP software engineer, you will join FreeGate's strong networking team in  conceiving, implementing, and delivering innovative new firewall, VPN, connectivity and IP routing features in the FreeGate product.  You will study requirements for performance, reliability, and new  features, then develop innovative technical solutions.  You will follow your projects from conception through to delivery, working closely with marketing and customer service departments to ensure that  your software meets customer needs and is supportable in the field.  You will take pride in delivering high-performance products that are robust and highly reliable.

Skills Required:

  • 2 or more years TCP/IP software development experience
  • B.S. degree required; advanced degree highly desired
  • Experience working on the BSD TCP/IP protocol stack
  • Strong focus toward performance and reliability a plus
  • A track record of delivering successful software products
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a product development team

Sr. Network Engineer

 Your mission will be to deliver second and third-level support to non-technical small business customers by phone, E-mail or in person. You will assist our customers with questions regarding their  local area networks, E-mail and Web publishing tools.

Skills Required:

  • Strong experience with Windows 95 and NT system administration required
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP LANs, E-mail and Web configuration and routing required
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills required
  • Experience in customer oriented technical support is a strong plus
  • Experience with Unix, shell scripting and system administration is a strong plus

Marketing Manager, Channel and Partner Programs

Responsible for development and implementation of marketing programs for FreeGate resellers, distributors, and strategic partners.  Programs can include: joint seminars, joint mailers, spiffs for partner salespeople, sales kits for partners, training partner sales people partner trade shows, PR, press releases, partner advertising, and  other marketing promotional programs. The manager will also work with product marketing, marketing communications, and sales to ensure we are maximizing revenue-generating opportunities with our  partners. Also works with webmaster on partner items that go on the corporate web site, etc.

Skills Required

  • 5+ years exp. in technology marketing communications
  • Successful track record of strategic and tactical marketing communications
  • Able to deal effectively with marketing managers and directors of partner companies
  • Prior marketing exp. in Internet, LAN/WAN, and/or PC network software industry
  • Good understanding of data communications equipment like routers, firewall, as well as Internet services like, email, web server, VPN
  • Bachelors Degree in marketing or a related field.

 Responsible for territory growth activities to VAR and End User prospects and customers.  Duties include inbound and outbound sales activities, responding to and qualifying of incoming sales leads,  maintaining the installed customer database, and processing of customer requests.

Skills Required:

  • 2+ years of inside sales exp. in a high tech environment
  • Good knowledge & understanding of Internet services or networking products
  • Strong interpersonal, communications, and phone skills
  • Ability to prospect, qualify leads, and close sales
